Getting started

Naytto is in private preview, so you need an invitation. Once you have one:

1. Go to app.naytto.com and enter the email address you were invited with.
2. Naytto emails you a six-digit code. Enter it within 10 minutes.
3. Open Account and add a passkey. A passkey signs you in with Face ID, Touch ID or your device's screen lock, and it's what you'll use to approve new computers.

Adding a computer

You add a computer from that computer. Today it must be a Mac running macOS 15 or later. Windows and Linux are coming next.

1. Install the Naytto app on the Mac. A download on this website is coming soon. During the private preview, contact support and we’ll help you install it.
2. Open Naytto on the Mac and choose Add to my account. Your browser opens and shows a code.
3. Check that the code in your browser matches the one on the Mac, then choose Add computer. If you signed in with an email code, Naytto asks for your passkey first.

The code works for 10 minutes. If it runs out, start again from the Mac.

The two Mac permissions

macOS asks you to allow two things for Naytto. The Naytto app on the Mac shows whether each one is on and opens the right page in System Settings.

Screen Recording

Lets Naytto show the Mac's screen in your browser. System Settings calls it Screen & System Audio Recording.

Accessibility

Lets Naytto move the mouse and type for you.

Until both are on, the computer shows Permission needed and you can't connect to it.

Connecting and Test connection

Sign in from any browser, select your computer and choose Connect. The Mac's desktop appears in the tab. Choose Disconnect when you're done; the Mac keeps running. Only one browser can control a computer at a time, so connecting from a second browser takes over the session.

Right after adding a computer, choose Test connection. It opens a short session, checks that the Mac answers, the private relay connects, the screen shows and the keyboard and mouse are ready, then ends. It never types, clicks or opens anything on the Mac. You can also choose to test the clipboard and file transfer.

To stop new sessions for a while, choose Pause Remote Access in the Naytto icon in the Mac's menu bar, and Resume Remote Access when you're ready. This works only at the Mac. When you're away, removing the computer from your account in a browser blocks all access at once; to use it again, you'll need to add it back from the Mac.

What the computer statuses mean

• AvailableNaytto is open on the Mac and answering. You can connect.
• In useA browser is connected right now. Connecting takes over that session.
• Update neededUpdate and reopen Naytto on the Mac, then connect.
• Permission neededAllow the permission it names on the Mac, then check again.
• Remote access pausedPaused from the Mac itself. Resume it there.
• AsleepThe Mac went to sleep. Wake it, or see Keep this computer reachable.
• Not respondingNaytto stopped hearing from the Mac. It may be asleep or offline.
• Can’t reachNaytto isn't connected on the Mac. It may be asleep, off or offline.
• Status unknownThis browser couldn't check just now. Choose Check again.

Asleep, Not responding and Can’t reach also say when Naytto last heard from the Mac. Naytto can't wake a sleeping Mac yet, so it tells you instead of spinning.

Keep this computer reachable

A Mac that's asleep can't be reached. Keep this computer reachable, in the Naytto app's settings on the Mac, stops it from going to sleep when idle so you can connect whenever you need to. It's off until you turn it on.

• Only while plugged in keeps the Mac awake while it's on power. Always also keeps it awake on battery.
• To keep a MacBook reachable with the lid closed, approve the Naytto helper once in System Settings › General › Login Items when Naytto asks.
• The display still sleeps, and the Mac still locks according to your own settings.
• It lets the Mac sleep again when the battery is below 20%, when the Mac is too warm, or while remote access is paused. The app and the computer's page say why.

Turning it off undoes every change it made.

Clipboard and files

• Copied text moves both ways between your browser and the Mac, with the shortcuts you already use.
• Send one file at a time, up to 100 MB, in either direction.
• Files you send to the Mac land in Downloads › Naytto Transfers. To get a file from the Mac, choose Get from Mac and pick it on the Mac; your browser saves it.

Shared or public computers

Signing in on a computer that isn't yours, like a library or hotel computer? Tick This is a shared or public computer on the sign-in page. You're signed out when the browser closes, and after 24 hours at most. The clipboard doesn't sync by itself; the Clipboard panel still moves text when you ask it to.

If you forget, sign that browser out from Account on another device.

Limits

• 10 hours: a session ends by itself after 10 hours, so a forgotten tab never stays connected. Connect again to continue.
• 3 computers at once: you can be connected to up to three of your computers at the same time.
• 300 GB a month of private relay traffic, counted per calendar month. Account shows how much you've used, and you can ask for an email when you pass an amount you choose.

When you reach a limit, Naytto says so and won't start a new session until it clears: when another session ends, or at the start of next month for relay traffic. Sessions already open keep running, and your computers aren't paused or removed.

Trouble signing in

• Lost your passkey? Sign in with an email code instead, add a new passkey in Account, then remove the lost one.
• Authenticator app turned on? An email code alone isn't enough; Naytto also asks for a code from your authenticator app. If you've lost it, use one of your backup codes.
• Lost a phone or laptop you were signed in on? Open Account on another device and sign that browser out, or choose Sign out everywhere.
• No code arrived? Check your spam folder, and that you used the address you were invited with.

Naytto emails you whenever someone signs in with an email code or changes your passkeys or authenticator app, so you'll notice if it wasn't you.

Updates

The Naytto app on your Mac updates itself, and only when no session is open, so an update never interrupts you. The browser side needs nothing: it's always the latest version.

Privacy

Your screen, your typing, your clipboard and your files are encrypted between your browser and your computer. Naytto's private relay passes them along without being able to read them, so Naytto never sees them. Your computers never open a door to the internet, and the browser you connect from never learns your computer's address. Naytto's service identifies your computer for you, and Naytto hasn't had an independent security audit yet. More about privacy.

1. Check Naytto's status. If something is down there, we’re alerted automatically and you don’t need to report it.
2. Signed in? Open Account in Naytto and choose Get help.
3. Can't sign in? Choose Can't sign in? Contact support on the sign-in page.
